Spectre review

Standard

SPOILERS ALERT

images.jpgSpectre is the 24th James Bond film. I think that Spectre is better than Skyfall.

Spectre opens with the vibrant colours of the Mexican Day of the Dead festival. You are instantly thrown into the action as a dramatic helicopter fight ensues. The difference in location is interesting as the London scenes have a more ‘noir’ appearance.

When Bond returns to London, he is met by M. M is angry at him for causing a ‘disturbance’ in Mexico. Bond is also suspended from all field duty. When he is about to walk out of the door, he is met by the mysterious ‘C’ who wants to abolish the whole ’00’ program.

Bond continues on his deep quest. Arriving in an old house in Switzerland, he is led to Morocco by Dr. Madeline Swann. There is a dramatic train fight that is similar to many other James Bond films. When they arrive at Blofelds’ base, it is revealed that Blofeld is Bond’s adopted brother. Bond has his brain almost drilled into but he manages to escape.

Bond returns to London but is then kidnapped by Spectre. There is a very tense sequence of scenes in the old MI5 HQ that then results in an amazing finale where Bond shoots down Blofeld’s helicopter.

Spectre is one of the best Bond films ever and is very thrilling. Daniel Craig is very good in this film, playing his character very realistically.

I highly recommend you see this film.

Jose Mourinho – how long can he stay?

Standard

Ever since the start of the 2015/16 season, Chelsea FC have not been living up to their Premier League title. In their first game, they drew 2-2 with Swansea. Their following game they were thrashed 3-0 by Manchester City.

The Chelsea website has a table of all their fixture results. Look at it here: Chelsea Fixture results

As you can see, theirs season has not been great. Their manager, Jose Mourinho, has faced criticism over their bad start to the season. In every match there is a drama about him. One notable example was when Chelsea when Chelsea lost 2-1 to West Ham. Jose Mourinho was sent off and did not attend the after-match press conference.

The big question is how long he will last? If Chelsea lose to Liverpool, it is likely that some behind the scenes talking will go on.

the tunnels part 3

Standard

The smugglers crept up the dank and dusty tunnel. Rats scurried  about in the darkness. The roof of the tunnel was in the cellars of the rectory. Normally it was covered in barrels but tonight it was open.

The worried parson stood by the entrance to the tunnel. He was anxious. If he was caught he would be hanged. But the customs men around where he lived were not reliable. But he was still stressed. Many men hated him. If one of them found out he would definitely die.

Meanwhile the smugglers had reached the entrance to the rectory. The leader, a man called Griffin, and two others, heaved up the stone.

” ‘Ere, guv. We got your order,” Griffin rasped. He was in a hurry. If he was a second late at the creek, the tide would be wrong and he could not get back to the main boat.

Slowly the crates and barrels were hoisted through the tunnel exit until there was none left. Griffin said his farewells and then the smugglers set off down the tunnel.

The men could sense that they were in a hurry. Suddenly, one of them slipped on the damp stone floor. His legs buckled.

” ‘Ere, what happened?” questioned Griffin.

“Old Tony, he fell on his leg” a younger one of the crew answered.

“Can you move it?” asked Griffin.

“No sir. It’s as dead as a doorknob,” painfully said Tony.

The smugglers made a splint for him and carried him through the tunnel. But Griffin’s worst fears were true. The delay had meant that the tide had gone out. This meant that the boat could not be pulled back into the water. The smugglers were stranded.

It was in conditions like these that a small rowing boat moored at a hidden clump of bushes.

“Right men, unload the boat and start walking through the tunnel” Said a weather-beaten man.

The crew of the boat obeyed him and soon there was no sigh of any disturbance.  The boat had been covered in a gorse bush and the men in the boat where up the tunnel. They where heading towards the rectory. The parson there liked his whisky but he could not get it due to high tax on it. He had decided to contact a well know gang of smugglers to deliver his precious goods.

The Tunnels part 1

Standard

Set your mind back to 1782. The golden age of smuggling was at its height. The government tried its best to stem the tide of illegal goods but they made a minute effort. Daily, silk, playing cards, tobacco and brandy were brought up the long, winding creeks and delivered thought ancient tunnels, entrances only know to few.

In the rural villages of north Norfolk, many a dark night you could hear a soft patter of footsteps and a knock on the window. Your barrel of Geneva was here or your 21 pairs of Angola gloves.

Custom officers had a difficult job. Although they picked up several smugglers, there were still many who hid from the law.

The Day the Wolrd Feared

Since the meeting in may, many plans had been made. In august a revolt had started in York. Much of the east-coast was under the 5th Reichs control. There had been skirmishes around Lincoln and several hundred men had been killed. Civilians around the area had been evacuated to Ireland.

Although the good start, the war was not in Hans Grubber Hitler’s favour. The British army had regrouped at Nottingham and were planning a counterattack. The 5th Reichs government was based in Hull. Contacts had been made with other far right groups around the world.

The Day the World feared-Part 2

09:42, London, 19th May, 2016

Hans Grubber Hitler approach the side street with a frown. Was this the place where the National Front meet? He was doubtful.

Hurriedly walking down some metal steps he knocked on the door twice. A spy-hole opened up and an eye peered out. At last the door swung open.

“What do you want?” The eye asked.

” I am Hans Grubber Hitler, who will lead the 7th Reich!” Answered Hans. There was a murmur. They had been expecting him.

“Where do we come in?” A small man in jeans asked.
